Life is full of choices. There are many things that we can do with our life and many choices that we can make without people giving us counsel. It is best when it comes to major decisions to bring people into the decision making process and receive counsel from people who are only to happy to advise you.

Proverbs 12:15

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,

But he who heeds counsel is wise.

A person devoid of wisdom is always right in his own eyes. The proud think they know what is best and go ahead and make choices that can detrimental to themselves and to others. The foolish person not only thinks he is right, he will make big decisions in life without even asking advice. Other foolish people ask a lot of people for advice and then makes a decision that does not take and of the advice. But the wise seek out people qualified to give counsel and discusses what they are faced with and then take notice of the counsel in their decision making process.

What is the use of asking two pastors and a few friends their advice and then going ahead with your foolishness after the wise have given a different course of action? What is the use of trying to talk to a person who asks for advice and then always goes his own way ignoring what you have to say? A wise person takes the choice he is to make before one or two people that have the authority to speak into his life.

I asked my pastor what I should do with a person that was causing me grief as a friend. She said to make up a list of the good things the person has brought to my life and then make up a list of the bad things. She told me once I had the list of the good and bad to make a choice whether you could put up with the bad, or is it time to just let go of that friendship. My father had already said I was to let the friendship go as it was no good for me to have a friend treating me like he had treated me. So even though it was hard to break up that friendship I went ahead with what the people in my life in leadership positions had said.

The thing about a proud and foolish person is that they really do think they are right and other people are not right. Just like it says here the way of a fool is always right in his own eyes. You can spend three hours advising the foolish person of why they should not do what they have said they are going to do but that is just three hours wasted when they go ahead and do what they were going to do.

When a person has a demon in them that they are not aware of, that is putting ideas into the person you are trying to counsel, the voice of the unknown demon makes sense to them and you are asking them to do something impossible, like forgive a person that slighted them, and not plan revenge.

Have you got people in your life that refuse good counsel that go from one bad thing to the next? Have you got people in your life that you have tried to give counsel to and you have found that you are wasting your breath? You need to save yourself time and leave them to follow the inner voice that they have speaking to them.

You don’t have to be like them. You can walk away from a proud person and make better friends than that! You have a right to have righteous friends that won’t waste your breath. Even if you have to spend time alone with God, give yourself a break from people that won’t listen. Prove that you can achieve things in your life and make a difference to the world in the time that you were wasting in their company. There is always a place like a soup kitchen or some other place you can volunteer your time. You might even find some good friends there, as most of the time people who volunteer themselves in a christian endeavour are mostly good hearted people.

Go on, go and get ourselves some good friends!
